It's Official!!!
I'm getting my hip replacements!!! I went to see the surgeon yesterday, and he was completely understanding that I felt it was time. I'm now waiting for the phone call to schedule it. It will probably be tomorrow, and I think that I'm going to go with June 22nd if it's available. That will be just for one hip, and we'll then schedule the 2nd hip for about 6-8 weeks later. I think that 6 weeks will be the best cause that will be putting it at the beginning of august and I want to be able to see my little man off to Kindergarten at the end of the month! Yikes!!! So much happening this summer!

Hip replacements becoming real
This morning I went to see my local ortho about the cortisone injections I got 3 weeks ago. Sadly they've worn off. I'm back to the same old painful ways that I was prior to the shots. We went a little more in depth about replacements though she is not the one who will be doing them. She revealed to me, that the first time I saw her, the real reason she told me to see someone else, was not truly because of her own inexperience in hips/joints. It was that she did not feel comfortable suggesting or agreeing to a 30 year old getting replacements. However, since she's seen me again these last couple times, and I've revealed some of my personal issues when it comes to working, taking care of Isaiah, and doing things with him...she's had a change in opinion. She now sees that this really is the only option left for me. From there, she proceeded to tell me that there is in fact a joint specialist surgeon in their practice who I can see, so that I can be local for all of my follow-ups and
whenever my revisions happen, etc. Sooooo....Monday I am still going to go see Dr. Pelligrini up past Baltimore, and talk to him and possibly schedule my appointment. Then the following Monday I will be going to see the Dr. Bauk here locally and get his thoughts and opinions and decide who I think is a better fit for me. I personally am really liking the thought of keeping it all local. She did slightly mention that a lot of surger appointments are made 2-3 weeks out from the discussion appointment...um, WOW? I have a lot to discuss with the doctors, and my parents since they will be helping me with Isaiah during my recovery time. So, I could potentially be having surgery next month, should I decide to do it prior to Isaiah getting out of school....yikes!!!!

9 weeks of Breathing Freely

That's right...9 weeks smoke free! I really don't even think about it much. I have the occasional urge that comes out of nowhere, but then it goes away as quick as it came. The only true temptations I still have are during pool league. The fact that the smokes are so accessible, and no one that is truly close to me is there to criticize me and know I'm doing it makes the temptation that much higher. However, this isn't about everyone else knowing what I'm doing, it's about ME knowing what I'M doing. The only person who it's going to hurt if I sneak a smoke is myself. Well, and Isaiah...because it's his mommy's life who's being shortened...and I'm trying to do everything I can at this point to ensure my life with him. Kinda like the orange sitting next to me that I'm eating. I feel that I'm at the point with the smoking addiction being somewhat under control, that now I can put more energy into controlling my eating addiction. Everything is hard in the beginning, but in the end it's totally worth it. That's the biggest lesson I've learned through the quitting of smoking. It's hard, really hard. I cried, I had anxiety & panic attacks just from the THOUGHT of not smoking. I would fill my head with the illusion that I liked being a social smoker, that I could handle just smoking when I went out in social situations. What a fool I was!! All that did was cause nasty mood swings and more and more cravings until I was smoking regularly again. I finally got to the point that I had to put myself first...who cares if I couldn't go outside with everyone at pool league and smoke. All it really is, is group suicide.... right?

Manic Monday? Nah...Marvelous Monday!
Every Monday morning, I log onto Facebook and see tons of harsh words about poor little ole Monday. Have you ever wondered tho, maybe Monday is so mean to us, because we're so mean to it? Maybe if we were to wake up and see the beauty of Monday, then our Monday's would start to look a little brighter? So this is why I've decided to start a Marvelous Monday blog. Every Monday, I challenge you to find something wonderful, beautiful...something Marvelous about your Monday! So, for my own first MM blog, the thing I find great today, is I WOKE UP! When life gets us down, when we get frustrated with our days - no matter which one it may be - just remember...you woke up. You opened your eyes and your alive. Alive another day to see your babies, your spouses, your friends, the beautiful world around you. Would you rather be having a rough day, or no day at all? So go forth today, and remember...it might be cloudy, but those clouds won't be there forever, and soon...the sun is gonna shine!

It was nice while it lasted
Well, it feels like the cortisone is wearing off. I could be wrong, but I have noticed more stiffness the last day or two. Still not as bad as before the shots, but it's there. If in fact it has, or is, it was the most pleasant 7 days i've had in years. Um...physically that is...emotionally I was a mess, but that's just part of being a girl. @@ However, if the way I felt from the cortisone is any indication of how I will feel once I'm all healed up from surgery, then it will be more than worth it. To be able to stand up from sitting or sleeping with out spending 5 minutes getting into a position to walk has been a wonderful thing. Anywhoo - I hope they're not wearing off so fast, but if they are then there's not much I can do about it.
On a side note, it's the end of March and we woke up to about 2-3 inches of SNOW! Granted it has since melted away as the day went on, but still, it was funny. :) This comes after yesterday I got a slight sunburn during Isaiah's football camp. That was a lot of fun too! Isaiah had so much fun, so much fun that he got mad when it was time to leave. It wasn't enough that we were there from 9am until 2pm, AND he got to play at the playground for a bit during the lunch break. His football playing time almost got cut short due to a mouth guard over the weekend as well. We went ahead and tried to get his mouth guard fitted and he nearly threw up all over me. After talking to a few friends who have little ones playing ball, they suggested that I cut the back of the sides of the guard and see how that worked....and it did! I was SO happy! And Isaiah thinks he's super cool now walking around the house with it in. The only problem, is that during the heating and fitting he bit down one of the sides and I didn't realize it, so we're going to have to get a new one before his first game next weekend. So, busy Saturday we had, and wore me out so much that I passed out with Isaiah at 9pm when he went to bed! Fun, fun, fun!
